Diana will explain the various styles of Egyptian dance, concentrating on Shaabi, Classical Egyptian, and Balady Progression, and the differences in hip and leg placement and use of hands and arms that constitute authentic Egyptian styling. Learn to perfect your shimmy with this intensive master class taught by Oracle of the Jahara Phoenix Dance Company. This class starts with basic shimmy drills and exercises to increase the muscle strength used specifically for the shimmy. You will then move into layering technique and finish with traveling steps done across the floor. Sarai- Zills more info Sarai's class is Saturday October 17th 2009 from 2:15PM to 3:45PM Playing the finger cymbals, sagaat, or zils is the best way to learn about the rhythm and structure of the music we dance to. Learning how to count and identify eastern rhythms improves dancing. The finger cymbals are one of the most versatile of all portable instruments. Each rhythm that the drum plays can also be played by the "crushed bells." They can be played in a variety of ways to achieve a surprising number of textures. Because finger cymbals are of the bell family, playing them is healing. Come join Sha’ni in a workshop to explore how these three elements work together for a brand new you onstage. Then add in some drama to get more theatricality in your dance and move you out of that beginners rut into a more polished and audience-involved performance. An Event To Spotlight Our Local Teachers!

Atlanta BellyPalooza, is the brain child of Sarjana and Jendayi of Atlanta Belly Dancing Studio's, Inc. The idea is to promote local Atlanta BellyDance Instructors and to build camaraderie is the local bellydance community. We modeled our event after a similar one in Baltimore, MD.

Atlanta is blessed with some of the best bellydance talent in the US, some of these wonderful ladies are very well known and some are Atlanta's best kept secrets. Our goal is to showcase our own!

If you are looking for a new bellydance instructor, or take a workshop with someone and really like her style, she won't be half-way across the country. You can take ongoing classes with her right here in town.

Our workshops are based on a "buffet" concept. Each workshop is 90 minutes and costs only $20.00 (in advance) for each person per workshop. Yes.. I said $20.00! If you pay at the door the cost is $25.00 per person per workshop.

You can spend the entire day with these amazing teachers without breaking your bank and come away with tangible results that you can pursue through group or private lessons with these beautiful and talented ladies.

Note: The floor at the Spring 4th Center is tiled. It is highly advisable to wear dance shoes and bring knee-pads for floorwork.
